MASS SERVERS SOCIETY – GHANAIAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY DÜSSELDORF & COLOGNE
Mass Servants started during Mass Service at the St. Rochus Church in January 2002. They wore Robe only when a Priest celebrated Mass with the community. The Community was taken care of by Rev. Fr. James Afoakwah and Rev. Fr. Hillary Boma Umol. During Mass at this time, Jennifer Begel, Coker Grämlich, Dennis Boateng, Janet Hopewell, Akua Serwah and Bettina Hopewell served at Mass celebrations.
On the arrival of Rev. Fr. Arthur, the service of the Mass Servants became a routine every Sunday. In April 2004, Mr. Augustine Kwame Owusu, former Mass Servant in Kumasi, joined the Community and also the Mass Servants group. He took leadership of the group and began training the boys and girls how to assist the Priest during Mass. The youth grew interest to become Mass Servants and many of them joined later. They are Frederick Opoku, Ernest Boateng, Ernest Owusu Ampadu, Kevin Hopewell, Polly Boateng, Daniel Twum-Barima, Philip Twum-Barima, Catherine Yeboah und Sahinto. The society has improved and is presently made up of young girls and boys who are being led by Mr. Augustin Owusu. They are also guided by Mr. Peter Ofori Aboagye, who has been Mass Server since his youth days even before he attended a Seminary school in Ghana.
