AKWAABA – THE GHANAIAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY DÜSSELDORF & COLOGNE WELCOMES YOU
MESSAGE FROM THE PRIEST IN CHARGE
We welcome you heartily to the website of the Ghanaian Catholic Community, in the Archdiocese of Cologne, Germany. The Community comprise the Ghanaian Catholic Community in Dusseldorf and in Cologne. The Dusseldorf Community consists of Ghanaian Catholics resident in Dusseldorf and its nearby towns, like Dortmund, Duisburg, Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Oberhausen and Wuppertal. Part of the members of the Community, also, include a couple of non- Ghanaian Catholics families from Nigeria, Tanzania and Togo.
The Ghanaian Catholic Community celebrates its Holy Mass on Sundays, Fridays and on other festive occasions within the Church’s Liturgical calendar. The entire order of the Mass is celebrated in Twi, our Ghanaian local language, for which reason our Community is, also, referred to as Ghana Twi Community by the Archdiocese of Cologne. The celebration is with the accompaniment of the organ, drumming, singing and dancing; – so vibrant and lively in the typical manner of the Ghanaian Catholic celebrations in our dear Motherland, Ghana.
Within the Community, there are liturgical ministries, like the choir, mass servers, lectors and ushers. There are societal groups, such as, the Christian Mothers Association, Holy Trinity Society, St. Joseph Men’s Society, St. Theresa’s Society and the Youth Group. Among ourselves, we undertake social programmes, like family community get-together during Christmas and Easter. We offer welfare and charitable services, such as, visit to the sick, to bereaved members of the Community, and to families with newly delivered babies. We, as well, give small financial contributions to our Catholic Dioceses in Ghana as donations or offerings for their church, school and hospital projects.
Feel warmly welcome to our Ghanaian Catholic Community, and to join us in our Sundays and festive celebrations. To our website, we cordially say: WELCOME!! AKWAABA!!!
Reverend Father Matthew Owusu-Manu

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
